Description
Participants will “get up close and personal” with Hawaii’s Kupuna (elders) in an intimate exchange of music, dance, Hawaiian crafts, and traditional Hawaiian activities. This activity will offer the essence of the spirit of Aloha for each visitor.
Participants will begin the day with the rhythmic sounds of traditional Hawaiian chants. They will learn the art of Lauhala weaving, participate in ukulele lessons, and learn lei making. The day will continue with Hula for Health and “talk story” sessions with the Kupuna. Each activity is in a small group setting, which encourages conversations and a chance to make friends. All ages are welcome to participate in this program where the Hawaiian value of Ohana (family) is integrated in each activity. The Kupuna will send the participants off to their next activity with the beautiful sounds of “Hawaii Aloha.”
The next adventure awaits the participants at the East Hawai‘i Cultural Center where they will be treated to an extraordinary cultural demonstration.
