Balance and Harmony
Hawaiian EDventure offers an array of academic, cultural, recreational and experiential travel programs that blend Hawaii’s culture, science, history and ethnic diversity. EDventure’s custom-designed programs may be created to meet your educational and recereational objectives.
Our “Balance and Harmony” program may include one, two or a three-island exploration. If you let us know what your educational/recreational needs are; Hawaiian EDventure will design the PERFECT program for your group. Hawaii’s Big Island, also know as the “Healing Island” will be one of the best sites for your holistic journey to wellness. An integrated academic, cultural and wellness adventure, this program offers an extraordinary experience that will enhance your mind, body, and spirit.
“Pono” (balance)
Sunrise walk: Begin your day with a one- mile fitness walk around Lili‘uolkalani Park. With stunning views of Hilo’s coastline and the sculpted beauty of the Japanese garden as your backdrop, you’ll find balance and energy to enjoy our full day.
“Hele On” (To keep moving)
Tai Chi: Introduction to the Chinese soft martial art of Tai chi which is primarily practiced for its health benefits – (the reduction of stress and tension). Tai chi emphasizes complete relaxation, and is essentially a form of meditation, or what has been called “meditation in motion.” Tai chi is characterized by soft, slow, flowing and precise movements that emphasize force, rather than brute strength.
Explore Downtown Hilo: Explore Downtown Hilo’s unique and eclectic shops and buildings. Take time to note the examples of renaissance revival architecture in Hilo. Note the arched windows and decorative additions to the front of the famous HATA building established in 1912. It was confiscated by the U. S Government during World War II as property belonging to aliens, but Hata’s daughter bought the building back in 1912 for $100,000. Restoration began in 1991.
Hula Expressions: Demonstrations by our noted cultural resource specialist (Kiwala‘o) who will share traditional gathering practices and assembly of adornments used by Hula dancers. Chants and legends will be shared during this intimate evening of “Hula Expressions.”
Hilo-Kona : “Malama Aina” (Caring for the land)
Learning from our Hawaiian Elders: (Light exercise/dancing) You will be brought “up close and personal” with Hawaii’s treasures – our KUPUNA (elders). This intimate, and unforgettable experience, offers hands-on Hawaiian crafts, lei making, music, hula and a delightful dinner. Our honored Kupuna will bring you back to traditional Hawaii as they share their history and spirit of Aloha with you.
